Hello there people! It's been a while since Hugo and I have taken over the blog, so here we are! I know you missed us! Since our Johnson grandparents visited, a lot has happened at our house, so we are here to catch you up!
Sis is right, a lot has happened and it didn't take long for poop to hit the fan. Or, in our case, the ceiling to fill with water. The day Mom and Dad came home from Paris, they were welcomed back with a dripping ceiling...
After getting their bathtub fixed just a few weeks prior, seeing more water coming through the ceiling was NOT a good thing. It took 22 visits to our house by insurance people, our landlords, and repairmen over the next month to locate the leak and repair the damage. I guess this is what happens when you live in Spain!
I will say, I'm pretty sure Reynolds and I could have found that leak quicker than the professionals. But don't worry, we were great guard dogs on every. single. visit.
With the water problems fixed, Mom and Dad celebrated by cracking open some red wine and making the summer special: Tinto de Verano. Not that Hugo and I would know, but it smells like a sweet, refreshing adult-only drink that relieves stress and is best enjoyed in the yard with your puppies!
With warmer weather finally reaching us in Southern Spain, Hugo and I look forward to Mom coming home from "school" smelling like tiny humans. When she gets home, it's outside time until Dad comes home! This is our favorite part of the day for sure! Hugo loves to soak in the rays, while I like dunking in my swimming pool and bringing all the chaos!
And if you thought Reynolds was kidding, she really does love her swimming pool!
Mom and Dad also ditched us for some sunshine time of their own! It's getting too warm on the beach for us, and with leishmaniasis being a big problem in this part of Spain, Mom and Dad left us in the cool house while they started on their tans!
They also ditched us for a day with their friends. Aidan & RJ, our furry friend Bella's parents, and Jaime, the mom to our other furry friend Russo, went with Mom and Dad to check out some beachfront day clubs in Costa Ballena. They ended their night at RJ's favorite dart bar in downtown Rota.
Now what Hugo isn't telling you is that we were kinda upset with this arrangement. How do all our dog-friends' parents get together without us?! How dare they all forget that they have puppies who would love a day club adventure too!!!
At the start of April, Mom and Dad's friend, Peyton, was preparing for a few months on the USS Roosevelt. While his wife, Meghan, was back in the States, Mom and Dad took him to dinner for one last good meal before he's stuck eating ship food for a while.
Dad told us that the food on the ship is worse than dry dog food, so we are happy Peyton had one last good meal! While there, Peyton also told Mom and Dad that he wanted to surprise Meghan with a puppy while he was underway for her birthday. Mom agreed to help him find the perfect friend for us! (More on that later!)
During the spring, Dad also joined an MWR soccer tournament! His team consisted of several dental corpsmen who asked our dad to join them. Wow! Dad is popular at work! I guess his guys really do like working with him.
Our athletic Dad continued his sports adventure by learning he isn't naturally talented at everything...
Uncle Ryan and Poppy put together a set of clubs for Dad so he could play with his friends. It's clear that Dad should have taken more advantage of free golf lessons from family when he had the chance!
Mom went with Dad a few times to the base's golf course to watch Dad play a new sport! He's getting better with every round of golf he plays, even if one of Dad's golf friends said he's "the only dentist that is terrible at golf!"
Dad's friend, RJ, just got a part-time job at the base course, so Dad is looking forward to many afternoons of hitting range balls and getting a friend discount!
Speaking of Dad's job: they had a uniform inspection on a Friday afternoon, where Dad had to get all dressed up and pose for some pictures with the dental team. Apparently, dog hair isn't in regulation, so he had to be careful not to take any evidence of us with him!
Then Dad had to go to the XO's leaving party, where he had to dress up like he did in the Dental department skits. Dad said he was "Crocodile Dentee" since the XO is Australian!

Now, before I tell you about the next big event of the Spring, I wanted to remind you how cute Reynolds and I are. According to Mom and Dad, we are the cutest, fluffiest, best-behaved (most of the time) puppies that have ever walked the earth. So remember our cute faces before you continue reading.
So remember how Peyton asked Mom to help him find us a new friend? Well, Mom may have done just a little too good of a job.
On Meghan's birthday, Mom took her to the Puerto Animal Shelter to meet their available dogs. Then, after working some magic over Facebook Messenger, Mom took Meghan to meet a puppy in a parking lot. Little did they know that Mom would play matchmaker and find us a new friend!
We haven't met Miss Millie yet, but Mom and Dad have shared all their parenting knowledge with Meghan and they have come home all too often smelling like this new puppy. We know Millie is one lucky dog and we can't wait for the next 3 weeks to go by quickly so we can have our first playdate with her!
Between Meghan getting a new puppy, and us meeting Mulligan, Uncle Ryan's new puppy, over Facetime, I'm beginning to worry that my streak as the favorite is going to go downhill.... Mom has reassured me that nobody can replace Sissy and I, but these new pups better know we are the OG furry children!
So that's it. This Spring has flown by and it's feeling more and more like summertime here in Rota, Spain!
To end this blog post, here's a sunrise pic of Hugo from our rooftop! Isn't he handsome? (He's also a mama's boy because he follows her to the roof to do laundry even before the sun is up!)
Dang, Mom and Dad have ditched us a lot these last few weeks! But at the end of the day, they do love us and we know how lucky we are to live in the best place ever with the best parents in the world!
Wags and Kisses,
Hugo & Reynolds
