A few weeks back, our friend group realized the guys hadn't eaten at Lisa's place, so we had to change that! I feel like the USS America Spouse group meets here once every few months to get together and mingle, but it just so happens to be while the guys are always at sea!
Now the guys have experienced one of the best Japanese izakayas in Sasebo! I recently learned that the three kanji symbols that make up the word "izakaya," 居酒屋 have the meaning, in order, “stay-drink-place," explaining Lisa's restaurant perfectly!
The perfect place to stay, have a drink, enjoy some amazing food with some great friends!

So now, the food. Just look at how good this stuff looks! (And know it tastes 10x better!) Lisa was born in Japan, but grew up in Australia, so she has a thick Australian accent, but speaks great English and is an absolute hoot! Her food is a nice mix of traditional Japanese izakaya bites and Australian appetizers! It's the perfect mix for a delicious meal!
Speaking of USS America events, last Thursday we had a hail and bail event at Lisa's place celebrating the arrival of some spouses (the hail) and the departure of other spouses (the bail).
As always, Lisa's food was absolutely amazing, and this was another excuse to visit with friends while eating (and drinking) some awesome Japanese cuisine!
Before their departure, we had to get a group picture at our final hail and bail before the guys head back to sea for their summer float! I'm telling you what, Japan wouldn't be half as enjoyable if it wasn't for the USS America Spouse Group, and the great friends we have made!

'til next time,
Katie
