While Bryan was gone for our 5th wedding anniversary on March 17, he made sure to make up for it when he got home from this deployment! During the final days of the float, Bryan got recommendations from some of the guys and booked a romantic dinner date for us at Nodo, a Japanese-Italian restaurant not too far from home! Y'all know, Bryan isn't normally the romantic, thoughtful guy, but he sure outdid himself with this dinner reservation! Nodo is a beautifully stunning restaurant that used to have a Michelin star, before dropping their prices in recent years! Nodo is tucked away on some small, winding streets outside of Saikai, but the stunning local scenery makes up for the rural location!

We arrived right as they opened at 5:30 pm, and enjoyed a two-hour-long coursed Italian meal that was to die for. Just look at the pictures of our food:

After our amazing dinner, we headed home to finally pop open the bottle of champagne we have been holding onto since our wedding! While most people eat the top tier of their wedding cake to celebrate their one-year anniversary, we had this bottle of champagne...that we forgot to drink at the one-year mark. So, being the sentimental people that we aren't, we decided to hold onto it until the five-year mark. Goals. Make it five years. Check.

We thought, five years ago, that we would drink it on the day and savor every sip together! At the time we had no clue that our lives would revolve around military deployments, let alone living in Japan, so I jokingly told Bryan I was going to enjoy it by myself on March 17 while he was gone! We weren't waiting another five years and praying the bottle didn't break in another PCS move!

Yes, this is the only photo I got. Ignore the messy house in the background. Living our best life, ok!?!

It may have been a little delayed, but March 25th goes in our books as the five-year anniversary date! Living on the Navy's schedule may add challenges, but nothing was stopping us from savoring these last five years together! I mean, look where it all started!!

Cheers to the next five years! Who knows where it will take us!
